My wild brain has a desire to transport people into different worlds, telling visual stories, exploring themes and experiences that touch us, and which demonstrate skills that take time to perfect.
I graduated from Bretton Hall with a first degree in Acting. My speciality was physical theatre and comedy. The more absurd the better! My first collaborative creation won best newcomer at the Edinburgh fringe. Then in 2012 I fell in love with puppetry and formed 'Odd Doll'
I love to tell visual stories that enhance both the beauty and ugliness of life. I enjoy small forgotten things and things that are just bizarre.
I want to inspire and invigorate people through theatre. I am excited by the way audiences come together, anticipate and imagine. I believe that as theatre makers we have a great responsibility towards our audience; we want them to want more, to be an active participant and left wondering.
I am fascinated by the way original composition and choreography work together. I crave the sincere concentration and craftmanship of puppetry on stage. I love how hard it is to perfect the subtle relationship between movement and intention.
Red Ladder - Mother Courage
As a clown and physical theatre practitioner I also love working in mask. The transformative powerful and artistry blows me away. For 15 years, I have worked as a hospital giggle doctor for UK children's hospitals. This has become integral to who I am. Providing love, stupidity and play to those that really need it, finding authentic wonder and joy in ordinary things. This work feels hidden away from what most people experience, but its impact is far greater than anything else I have experienced.
As a working class solo mum to a complex needs autistic child, how communities access the arts and which voices are heard has become incredibly important to me. I know first hand how exclusion and iscolation feels and I don't take any chance to collaborate and get inspired by others lightly. Opportunities and time are so precious. I have therefore become deeply passionate about shared, safe experiences for disabled people. Today, when I find myself in a rehearsal room I cannot stop myself from smiling.
